How to use textarea in forms on a page

I want to add a form with a textarea field (e.g. multiline text), but when I add the closure (</textarea>) as html in the textfield it breaks the edit field at that position.

How do I create a textarea in a form on a page without breaking the page. e.g. without the closure tag of the textarea breaking the page?
