Hi,
I want users to register before they can order items (like the most sites have it). Something like "User area" on opensolution.com, but I have no clue how to do it = not a PHP expert. :)
Here's another example: http://www.simplyupside.net/

Can anyone explain how to do it or is there some kind of plugin somewhere?

Thanks!

you could take a very basic login system from somewhere like hotscripts.com
normally it allows definitions like:

not logged in: include thisandthat

if logged in:
echo: Welcome Username
include thisandthatloggedin

Yes, but shouldn't there be some kind of extra coding, since users may not be able to buy stuff before registration/login?

Easiest way is having 2 separate QC's.... maybe using the same products/categories db files.
one for loggedin // one for not loggedin people....
IF you find the right Authnetication system/user system it should be pretty easy.. just add the loggin check to the separate QC for registrered users...

For the not loggin visitors you can change that QC they will visit so to speak without a basket button etc..

Hi nidurhaf,

I think you should consider some other system than QC.

For the customer its a relief not to be forced to register. No need to remember yet another id and password. And you will probably get more customers, and more $ for you as well :-)

This is one of the biggest features of QC as I see it.

I too would like a user login so repeat customers won't have to fill in the delivery form each time they visit the store and order.

admittedly my site is geared more for repeat/known customers rather than retail.

I know what you mean, Rickard, and I agree with you, but I wouldn't call it "one of the biggest feature", it's more "lack of it".
The reason why I want login possibility is to avoid/minimize "harassment effect", ie. someone ordering a product in other person's name, address etc.

I was also interested in that solution even thinking to pass to osCommerce. But finally decided to stay at QC.
The great improvement would be not to force frequent visitors/customers to fill up the form again and again.

There is an idea of a button "Remember me" next to the form.
When entering QC from the same IP/computer the form would be autofilled with remembered data.

How do you like the idea?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but this feature would be extremely useful. My store is geared towards repeat customers - a small variety of consumable products that are purchased many times a year - and it would be great if my customers could simply key in a user id/password to bring up their stored information (and perhaps an order history) - rather than have to enter it every time.

Certainly it would be optional, as nobody should be required to create an account in order to use the store.

Thank you for a great product.

Indeed this addon would be very very useful. Anyone could browse the catalog but when someone cant to buy, he have to register. That way the customer that come back doesn't have to retype everything and the site owner will be sure that the orders are made from the qualified people. Every e-commerce site work that way so the customers are used to this.

Since I would need this mod for a customer, I'm willing to pay something just to help the developers...

Any other idea to achieve this?

I would like to add that the "site of the month" ( http://www.e-pamir.pl/ ) has, I think, such a feature but unfortunately I'm not able to understand a word so I cannot tell if the feature I've seen is exactly the one we're searching for...

Can anyone check?

This site is not QuickCart but QuickCart SQL that mean is not standard QuickCart but were maded for special request by QuickCart authors team. There are one plugin for standard Qc to have client accounts but is not free. Maybe ask QC team?

Chocolinx - there is a plugin which you can buy, you don't need to buy payed version of Q.C, you can see description here:
http://opensolution.org/os/templates/en_plugins.html#US
If you have some question about payed tools, contact with us via e-mail

Merci - are you absolutely sure about this statement
[quote] you don't need to buy payed version of Q.C, [quote] - I have been under the impression taht you have to "buy" a new cart anytime you "add" a plugin to it - ( this is from the OS team )

Can you now buy the plug-ins as seperate items and install them into an existing cart? without the need to "re-do" everything....?

merci

idaryl - I'm sure that you can order only plugin and you will recive it installed on free version of shop or we can install it on your shop, but it is payed option and depends how much modified is your shop.
