how to backup database in version 4

Hello,
I downloaded and successfully installed a version 4. When I try to download the files from the server to back up the DATABASE and return them tothe same server, the data are gone, and I get an error: The data could not be found.
How am I supposed to back up the DATABASE Is it just COPY Paste or I'm missing something.
(in versions 2 or 3 thre was no problem with backup)

just log to FTP and copy "database/" and "files/" directory to local drive
