Upgrade From Quick.Cart to Quick.Cart.Ext?

I may be interested in upgrading from Quick.Cart to Quick.Cart.Ext, but I am curious about whether or not I will have to re-start with the new CMS, or if I just have to replace the files.

If you have free edition v5.x you can only copy selected files from free to Ext and it should work fine.
