Add a slider in home page

I need to add a slider in a specific page (let's say homepage). How can I do it? At the moment I have it the container template and is shown in all pages. How can I change it?

Make a special container for your slider page. Specify that container in a new theme e.g default_slider.php and use that theme only for the page where you want your slider.
