New Quick.Cart v5.1 email notification

Hi is it possible to send an email in version V5.1 to an customer when an orders is in progress or as been sent.
i know the workarround sendordertoclient but this wont work with the new version.

compie - this feature is included in Quick.Cart.Ext. Description of feature: "It informs the client about any order status change to keep the client aware of the order processing stage."
