I just did a translation of Quick.Cart 4.1 to Swedish. As I could not find any instructions on your site on how to do this, I did the following.

1) Duplicating en.php, renamning it se.php and translating everything
2) Uploading, choosing se.php in admin
3) This displayed an error, from which I understood I also had to duplicate lang_en.php, and rename it lang_se.php
4) This made the admin part work again with my new language but all pages and products are now missing! The shop main page is now a 404 not found. Switching back to english or polish does not help.

I would be very happy if someone could help me out fast. Thanks!

Changing back to english also under Settings > Options > Default language made the shop come back to life. But as soon as I change to my translations everything breaks again.

What did I miss?

You have to duplicate all en_pages in db and change "en" to "sv". Remember the ISO 639 2-letters code for Swedish language is "sv" not "se". So rename all other files you use "se" to "sv".
ISO 639 languages code you'll find here, (scroll down a bit):

Great - many thanks!!

But hey - why don't they mention this (and some other necessary steps) in http://opensolution.org/download/Quick.Cart/translations/_howToInstall.txt

Crazy programmers...

So, unless I delete all old english files I will now have an old, duplicate database of all orders etc? This could be very confusing for my client, switching over to english for some reason and everything is reset to this date in history...

Yes, I have now. Not an answer to my last question as far as I can tell?

Only ten files in db will be duplicated, no orders. You'd better give it a try and see for yourself.

Sorry - I was a bit stressed out and didn't look close enough at what was duplicated and not. Thanks for your help. Your first post solved my problem.
