Calculating order quantity

I want to sell a product that is custom made and the price will depend on the size. Is there any way to use attributes or some other way to have the customer enter the length and width that he wants and the price would be calculated from the area? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

are you really using QC 1.x? because it's important if you want to get a proper advice

Hi Beholder, yes I'm still on 1.4 ...I just prefer the simpler back-end. So I'd prefer to stay that way, but I could move to 3.x if that was the only way to get this function :-)
