In the documentation I found the following concerning multi-language system which works. However, when I click the pl link, a total new content appears.
What I want: Informative pages like home, contact... (everything what is in top menu under logo - I'm not using cart or orderforms, just catalog) should be translated when clicking pl or nl. I understand that - and that is no problem - when some text changes or page is added, this has to be done twice, once for each language.
The products however, should be the same files for both languages. So somehow, both the en as well as the pl (or other lang..) should 'call' the same products list.
Copying product files and uploading manually is not an option here, since this website will be used by some very unexperienced clients.
we understand. there is some group of peoples that want that you want but there is some group of peoples like us that we think is better to have different products database
If you know php you can made modification. My modification: - I have shop with 2 language, - products have one database (in one file) - each product have two description (one for EN and second for DE) - when you are viewing product in english and you click the other language all is changing to other language
For me it is now enough, but there are still some disadvantages, eg. number of languages is now fixed to 2 and if I would like to added third language it will be not automatic.
Thanks piotri, that sounds interesting of course. Problem is that my php knowledge is insufficient to make such significant modifications.
I was thinking of an 'easy' alternative (preferably with quickcart), am I correct that only version 1 of quickcart can be called in an iframe because it is not wrapped in a template? This might be a solution for me.
I could make a website in 2 languages and 'call' the shop in iframe or something..
Is this version 1.x still downloadable somewhere and does documentation exist to remove price, basket and order options? thx
Hmm, I could make some step by step instruction how did I made my modification, but I've made also a lot of other changes and I don't know if I'm capable to find all the places which I've changed. And I can tell you that my php knowledge is not so big.
I don't know what version can be called in an iframe :( , but all versions can be downloaded from this site.
Hello piotry I am absolutely interested in your modified "2-lang" shop, sales of a website is depending on this language issue. At this moment 2 languages will also do the job for me. I also made some nice modifications in the default css, I modified the shop to 900px, added gradient background. The content area also is wider than usual.
May be we can exchange files.
