Custom Contact Us Form

Greetings All,
I have already developed a custom form, which I intend to use with my Quick.Cart Ver 3.x install. As such, I would like to know the following:

Is it possible to have the form refer to an external script [e.g. <form action="directory/scriptname.php which, on processing, redirects to the home page of the install]

If the above is not possible, how can I reference the form, so that it can process user submitted input, and send this to a particular email.

Any tips or pointers are most welcomed.
