What is the maximum number of categories that one can use?

Greetings All,

I'm using Quick.Cart ver 3.x and have entered only ten categories. Now, if I attempt to enter any more categories, the page just goes blank, and the category isn't added.

What is the Max number of categories? And, if I wanted to use, say, 30 categories, how do I do this...as I said before, I'm stuck at only 10 categories, I have about 22 more to go!

hmmm ... very strange. mayb you have very long text in categories??? try to do the same but on another server. maybe this is server problem

Well, I've tried even re-uploading all the files [leaving just the db folder], and, re-configuring the site afresh, nothing doing. Offline [using apache] everything is working well. However on the server, nothing is working, I can't even 'edit' existing categories/ content, neither can I add new categories/content.

The longest text in the 'categories' is 'hot deals this week' which appears as the start page. All else are very short category names, such as, 'carvings', 'paintings' e.t.c.

Could anyone please offer some tips? soon? I will greatly appreciate, as I'm now stuck [need to add other categories and content, and, I'm stuck]

this must be some f***ed up memory seting on the server. Please talk to your server admin to remove the application memory limit that currently is set to very low value. you could need about 32 MB for QC to work ok with 100+ categories.

my server memory set on 32MB..

but my page keep on blank, if I make change the specifications...all spec was gone...

I used only 100MB capacity.

anyone can solve this problem....or..any good hosting for this QC..

How can one 'upgrade' the memory limit? Is this really where the problem is

lqunta - you cant ... you must ask server admin to change this
hotnet107 - upload and install script on another server and check script. if it will work then you will know that problem is in server

theoretically it could be that the server gives you some other error but your browser doesn't display it. Try Firefox and Opera.
Or your server doesn't throw error, only blank screen. In that case, ask your admin about it.

Done that, developed a PHP.INI file which - I hope - has taken care of the problem. Set the memory limit to 64mb, now I can add more categories. But still experiencing problems....when on 'add page', after filling in desired details, when I clidk on 'save and go to the list' page takes loooooong to load. Not as before which was almost instantaneous. Could there be another problem overlooked?

yes, that server is VERY bad or you have like 4000 categories.

You may also have too many files on your server which would add an additional load to QC processing your pages. You can try to disable a setting in admin>settings>"display server files in form" to see if it helps.
