My files directory cannot hold more than 1730 images

I have a Quick Cart 3.0 as well as 3.1.
When ever my /files directory that contained all the thumbnails and images is more than 1730 or so, i will not be able to edit or add new product nor pages. It will just give me a blank screen with no error.
I can rectify this by removing the images file but this is not right as i will have a lot of product with missing images.
Some of the helpful guys in here like beholder recommended me to move half the files to another directory, but then this will result in lots of missing links.
Your help with details procedure is greatly appreciated. This is a great software and i do not want to change to others.
btw, this is VERY easy to solve by perhaps just ONE modification of the script. If no one helps you, I will research this over the weekend, I don't have the time right now. Cheers.

The server guys says there is no limit as long as you have the space. This sound logic.
So they push the blame back to QuickCart. Urghhh
Please help.

I manage to solve my problem by moving all the files to another directory under /files/
Then import db/en_products_files.php into EXCEL and perform batch renaming by inserting a column before the image file name and re-export out to TEXT file.
I have quick cart 3.0ext version and I have same problem. Quick cart team says thatit is server problem but server guys says also that there isnt any limits. Also I have quick cart 2.2ext version and there isnt such problem (I may tehere put in files folder so much files as I want).
I use extended version of 3.0. I cant it upgrade to 3.1ext without paying. I dont want pay more If I´m not sure that I get help and that 3.1 is working
In Quick.Cart v3.1 there is new option to disable viewing files in product and page details. See: http://opensolution.org/download/Quick.Cart/changeLog.txt "new option in settings "Display files from server in form""
q900761 - this is not a solution. this only gives you possibility to edit product or page but you cant now add files from server. In my opinion it is still server or browser problem because we tested editing page/products with 12 040 files on server in "files/" directory and it works OK on 3 different servers that we tested. It works slowly but works.
I dont remember emails from you but in my opinion it is server problem and it is strange that you cant view this files.
Treewood, do all functions work ok with those 12000 products?
Because if administration Orders and Products viewing/editing works ok, I am gonna tear my webmaster apart, I am gonna rip his arms from his ass and stuff them into his mouth. Because this cost me fucking nerves and time, I am really sick of this issue already. It's one thing when you say QC just won't do it, another if someone JUST SETS THE SERVER WRONG.
I should have added when you say you 'tested' it with 12040 files, was that via your Quick.Cart Files upload system or via FTP? What I am saying is that the limit may be an issue via the uploader rather than the space or server, it is easy to upload 12040 files and test if it can see them but.... will it upload that many over time?
Thanks
