Add a Product Item Number

I have searched and searched and can not find any help. Anyone know how to add a item number, so it would be easy to actually know when order is recieved? I have added Credit Card info on order page with no problem.

dwholt - can you describe it more clearly as I don't know what you mean, maybe some screenshot will be helpful.

Best way i can explain would be like this. When adding your product in the Products Data page, you have to insert the follwoing.
Name
Category
Price
Short Description
Full Description
Position
Files

This is ok, but, we also need to know the difference of the products, like have a Item Number.
Name: Bear
Item Number: B01

Name: Black Bear
Item Number: B02
And so on. See what i mean?
