OK sometimes I wonder..... I have a working cart 1.4 and have noticed that when people finish the order process they have a hard time with clicking on the Paypal (PPL) button and even then... seem to get lost in finding the right buttons in PPL
They just click on the print order link -- which then empties the cart and tells them the basket is empty - they then think they have completed the order and get mad as hell when they dont get what they ordered - even though (logically speaking they should have filled in credit card details etc - this fact seems to elude them! and this applies to just about everyone who orders!!!) really weird.....
I try to allieviate part of the problem by adding extra code to the Paypal script which pre-populates the Paypal fields so the user doesnt have to fill in the same fields twice. Still the users have trouble placing orders. I make the Paypal button link larger, so the user has a hard time not "seeing" the button and making the Print order link smaller - still have trouble.
A little while ago I asked about having the Paypal window open automatically when the orders_delivery template is loaded - I have no success there - its a javascript call and doesnt work in the PC environment - but does on a Mac, 90% of users are on PC's, ouch!
So the client I have, calls Paypal about the problem, and they tell them to get the "Paypal API Credentials to integrate onto the site". Egad!
Has ANYONE done this??? - If so how is it done? I dont mean in Paypal, but in QuickCart, whether you are using the freebie Paypal link (found here in the forum) or if you buy the Paypal version from OS - the scripting is almost the same - it does the same thing! Sends the user to a new window using (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr).
Using the Paypal API? Do the OpenSource guys know anything about this? - Iv'e tried ALL of the experiments above on 2.0-2.1 and 2.2 so please, please dont tell me to upgrade. (I've been up and down all over there)
I have certificates etc in place in PayPal - I have an active business account - its a working cart, when someone actually goes through the Paypal process it works fine.
Supposedly the [Integrated API doesn?t even let users know that they are paying through pay pal and is very stream lined] according to the Paypal rep.
So, back to my question..... Has anyone actually done this? if so... how to do it?
why can't you use automatic javascript form submit like in paid version of Quick.Cart, you just need to place in order summary (after sending order) page script like:
of course you need to make form with id formPayment and data needed in paypal it works on pc's and opens paypal in the same window, it is simpliest way and should work even if user wont see it, in version 2.x there is no print link because order summary is shown after sending order so he shouldn't be lost
