This is a second note - addendum to this: http://opensolution.org/Quick.Cart/forum/?p=readTopic&nr=4090
Treewood tells Matt79 to backup the database then update the cart to 2.1 -- does 2.1/x actually fix this problem? or just to use a more current copy of the Cart?
Proxive ( Hi ) tells Matt79 "Quick.Cart makes an entry everytime someone places something in the cart, even if they don't finish the order, so these aren't actually orders, they're just quick.cart keeping track of stuff having been placed in the cart, this is also why the ID numbering is "whacky"."
Is that fixed in 2.1/x?? - I have a similar problem happening as this is typed - and the client is going nutzoid at me - I really need some kind of resolution to this - because with all the installs I have and with the proposed ones (if this is an issue - I'll have to look at some other solution - and unfortunately I've invested time and $ and resources from others (OpenSolution) into a system that has an interesting flaw)
Does the new version fix this??? - Is it worth it it buy a version, just to find out that it does'nt?
idaryl - update to Quick.Cart v2.2 should help but most important is search where is problem. Maybe Your client have loaded server? We report some problems with that and in Quick.Cart v3.0 we want to close this problem forever. Most reports we get are with loaded servers or lot visitors (for example google robots which in one moment add many products to basket).
Can You get information how many this happens to You, in what hour, and maybe You can try to change templates/products_list.tpl and add rel="nofollow" (for robots, to not follow link to basket) to links where is: <a href="?p=ordersBasket& ....
OK you've got me here, loaded servers - google robots that "add items to a basket" - I thought bots just trawled through a site for content etc, not activate the button scripts - in that case would'nt that effect ALL shopping carts no matter who engineers them? that would cause a lot of grief wouldnt it? cant believe a bot
What are "loaded servers" If you have a quick fix as far as adding a rel="nofollow" what are you taqlking about? I cant follow if you give me a hint/suggestion, I dont know this that well so expecting me to "divine" the code placement and what it is doesnt help - dont get me wrong I'm not mad, just a little frustrated is all.
I cant get info on how many times this happens - all I know is if I look at the orders in the admin area I get this and that - but if I look at the db/orders.php I have another set of (no number structure) entries
????
Quick Cart 3? - HUH? - You're telling me to uprade to 2.2 (which I'll have to buy; with all the mods I need - including the other changes I previously got for 1.4; which I'll need for 2.2 - and then I'll have to go through this all again for 3.0?? -- why? -- Grrrr!
idaryl - robots dont activate button scripts but i said about templates/products_list.tpl where is products list. There is simple link to basket and this robots will click because it is not form but only link and link are clickable/follow by robots.
Loaded servers. Some of problems users get when server have been overloaded and creates backup, have big transfer etc.
Some of users dont get this problem anymore but they have shop from 1-2 years based on Quick.Cart and they have about 10-20 orders a day but we recommend them to buy best server because it is worth price.
Most problems we get was on strange/poor servers but i dont know what kind and load is Your server.
You musn't upgrade to QC v2.2 ... You can wait for QC v3.0 and after upgrade.
Please remember that this forum is for freeware Quick.Cart support. We are talking about paid version and support should be via email.
Jeez, I was being relative about the versions etc, this applies not only to the (paid) versions I have but also the freeware versions I'm using from the download area that I have re-skinned and added other pieces to.
The sites are hosted on an Apache server some info i got from the provider: Data Storage 60GB mirrored RAM 256MB Data Transfer 5GB Processor P4 1.5GHz Operating Systems* Linux, Win2000 OC3 connection
Would it be better to have the [href="?p=ordersBasket&sOption=add&iProduct=$aList[iProduct]&iQuantity=1" ;] wrapped in a fieldset? as a button instead?
yes this forum is for freeware but I'm talking about both here... and how long til 3.0? the client isnt that understanding - all they want is fixes... and fixes now, not later.
idaryl - server is nothing special (even poor) but if server didn't have many accounts (if server have many web accounts then it is possible that it is loaded) it will work ok. But this is for me very old construction. Problem with poor processor and less RAM.
Maybe will be better but You can add this rel="nofollow" to robots to this link. To Quick.Cart v3.0 we must wait few months.
Our suggestion is to check server. For me it is poor and add this rel="nofollow" to links. I think most problems is with robots. We checked few shops and many times we see that in 1-2 minutes shop have created many not finished orders
