Hello,

Can someone tell me what do you do when someone order more than the quantity you have in stock ?

I would like to use Q.C 1.4 or 2, as they don't plane to make a stock control, it's not possible for me to use it as I don't want each time I don't have the quantity in stock say to my customer : (sorry i'll refund you as i can't have the quantity you need...) . For the moment I use Q.C 0.31 with stock control but I can't use some other plugins such as productattribute which is very convenient.

any idea ? (without too much php programming)

best regards,
david.

davidc1 - many sellers write in terms that have "product on order" and if someone will order then they will order this product and send to customer. for example they write: shipping in 24 hours (if they have it on stock), shipping in 48 hours (if they don't have).

I cannot undertsand, when you don't have in stock you cannot send within 24 or 48 hours.
The problem is with the payment, if you receive it and don't have the product you are in trouble. And a good store must have every product ordered, otherwise customers will not come back.

davidc1 - it depends ... i know some sellers who have 1 km to his distributor and he don't have anything in stock.

Good point davidc

I cannot order more of those things I will sell because they are factory outlets.
I will make it with COD payment and I will try to update the products as many times as I can. So, if the product is not on stock I will just inform the customer .. "sorry but meanwhile the product has been sold".
It will work with outlets but if I'm going to sell something serious I will probbably pay to those guys to build one PRO shop for me.

Regards.

sellers who are 1km to distributor are 1% of sellers. Mine are 15000km to me !

anyway qwertyytrewq be sure that q.c is efficient, very fast and easy to use. For my point Q.C with stock control can be a PRO shop. In the past I used oscommerce and I think Q.C is better on many point.

As Ive said before in other threads I have commissioned a commercial plugin that will monitor stock and make pages hidden when its reached zero as well as do other things.

Ill make an announcement when its ready and with the cost. It will be a little longer as it has to be tested with 1.4 as well as 2.0 and the latter isnt released yet.

davidc1 - good point but i gave You example and it is not 1% of sellers. when You create new buisness it is very important to have close distributors. it will cost less to get stuff and you can sell without any store.
- another sellers are those who sell for example t-shirts with logo. they have many t-shirts without logo and if some one order logo they create put this logo to t-shirts.
- another sellers are those who sell software for example we. we sell plugins and we have no limits with this in stock etc.

i know this is very important for those who sell for example LCD displays, books etc. and we will create plugin to control stock but it will take some time because we have big plans with QC 2.0 and QCMS 0.4 :)

Ok treewood, when you create a new business I agree that it's good to be near a distributor but it's better to have low cost otherwise customers will buy anywhere else... To have low cost you should buy directly from factories, and if you are not in china, HK, Taiwan you can't be near to them !
anyway good luck for the devloppement of Q.C I will adapt my 0.31 with stock control to be able to use other good plugins.

I really dont understand why QuickCart dont have Stock Control.
It makes it useless for anything related with selling art etc - which usually exist only in 1copy in the world...

It would be great if you could just specify number of item you have in stock and noone could add more than this number into cart. Just that.

h4ndz:

It's free, and there's only so much you can do at a time, Especially on a free product. Like treewood said, they'll probably work on it for the future, but there's alot going on ;D
