Blank page in ''Add a product''

In version 1.4, when i try to add a product, all i get is a blank page. Is this a bug? Can i fix it in any way?

I think i found out what it is. At some point the error bellow came up:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/karnava/public_html/core/products-admin.php on line 1

So i tried to edit the code online thru ftp. I found that the code had no "break". The entire php file was in one single line! I opened the file i had stored localy and i copy/paste the same code in the correct form. Now it works.

Still, i can't understand why that happened... any ideas?
