Bug with MAC OS

A customer just reported, that his Mac doesn't show the enlarged pictures of any item.

His OS: MAC OS X
Browser: Safari (never heard of it - the standard brpwser which comes with Mac OS now...)
The windows for the enlarged pictures opens, but the jpg isn't displayed.

He also tried with firefox, but this won't open the window for the bigger picture at all, he reports.

Is anybody out there with a MAC who can cross-check this strange behavior?

Thanks in advance
Thomas

Yeah, I've noted this problem also.

The Linux Konquerer, which possesses the same rendering machine as the Mac Safari, does show the enlarged pictures, although in a small window that has to be pulled open.

Maybe the Safari of the customer is a bit old? Mac users should use Firefox anyway.

As well It is very complicated to tell users in a kind of imperative way- whatoever PC they are using - which browser should be used...

Hi Thomas,

I checked how the Mac reacts on QuickCart using BrowserPool (http://www.browserpool.de/kc/wob/portal.jsp).

Browser enlarged pic order possibility
---------------------------------------------------------------
Safari no Yes
Camino Yes Yes
Opera Yes Yes
Firefox Yes/no no
Shira no Yes
I Explorer Yes Yes

It shows, that Safari and Shira do not show enlarged pics. Firefox sometimes does and sometimes does not. Also with Firefox you cannot order. Trying it always leads to an empty basket. The IE works but does not show the horizontal menu (that one with the search button). That means Mac users have limited possibilities of using QuickCart.

Well,
I'm a mac user, and unfortunately the large picture is not working under Safari.
No problems with Firefox.

I guess that these problems are somehow related to the javascript used.
Nevertheless, It'd be really nice if somebody presented a solution, or at least a workaround.

Thanks, Till, for testing and documenting this little lack of compatibilty... <IRONY> I think it is obsolete to discuss or determine what' s actually incompatible - MAC or QC... </IRONY>

Hi!

I use Mac in home, and in office everyone has an Mac. I know that it is the very minority that uses Mac and Safari. But usually these people who do use Macs, are working in places like advertising agency, marketing, architects or design agencies. So these people might be still very important group of users.

The problem here is in Javascript, NOT in the Mac or Safari. It is the duty and job of web developers to make sites work in different platforms and browsers.

In my tests, i find out that the img src in popup is "undefined", if that helps anybody?
I continue solving this problem.

Check this out for that problem.
One thing that still needs to be worked out is the photo navigation in the pop up window.
But at least there is a picture.
If anyone has an idea for making the navigation I would love to hear it.

Another thing that I would like to get fixed is that if there are more than 1 pic, it goes to the last image, not the main one.

Any ideas?

Works fine for me on Mac G4/5 -- Tiger 10.4.6 - Safari 2.04 - however, I have found that if QC is using the Lightbox code works - but I've seen other OC carts that uses some other image display process with little "arrows" as guides and the darn thing doesnt work unless its viewed in IE5+

The newer version of QC opens a window then resizes itself to the center and smaller, it appears to work - my suspicion is that its the code being used to display the images that is the culprit.
