Just wondering if there are plans to make a mysql version for the DB backend?

No. Somebody already asking about this on this forum, and treewood says that this change will require to much work and it's without any sense 'couse Quick.Cart and Quick.Cms are based on simplicity (one part of this property is needn't mysql database)
